Earlier this year it was announced that Gundam Unicorn would be animated in some form or another for our viewing pleasure, much to the enthusiasm of Universal Century fans like myself. Since then, a small amount amount of new footage has been released (see here) and websites, both in Japanese and English, have been launched.
You can check out the English language website here. It contains the standard information on characters, mechanics and factions. At this point it’s not entirely clear to me what form the anime will take – full scale series or six eipsode OVA – but in any case, a general release date has been set for the Spring of 2010.
At this point I’m tentatively optimistic. The animation looks great (except for that rather lame CGI used when the Unicorn “transforms”), the mechanical design have been making me salivate since the beginning of last year, and the character design looks promising as well.
I’ve got my fingers crossed over here, don’t let me down U.C.!
